Corning’s Ultra become smaller! Incab cables too!

Cable miniaturization is the main trend in the construction of fiber-optic networks and in telecommunications in general. The reason for this is the need to increase the efficiency of network installation and speed up the process of optics penetration.

For this purpose Corning developed innovative fiber 200 mm in diameter on the basis of the proven fiber Corning SMF-28® Ultra. New fiber Corning SMF-28® Ultra 200 hasall the advantages and characteristics of the fiber Ultra, but has smaller diameter of 200 microns, which allows to increase the fiber packing density and reduce the size of the cables themselves.

Fiber Corning SMF-28® Ultra 200 allows to lower more than 30% the space occupied by the fiber, while it has low attenuation (up to 0.18 dB / km), high resistance to bending (standard G.657A1) and standard diameter for singlemode fiber of the multimode spot of 9.2 micron.

Because of these unique characteristics Incab managed to start production of micro-cables of a new generation of 96-fiber cables for blowing in micro-tubes with the diameter of 6 mm! Application of the new fiber allowed to reduce the diameter of the cable, its material consumption and weight. In this way the consumer has the opportunity to significantly reduce the amount of space occupied in cable ducts and hence reduce operating costs.
